I met Gary through a mutual friend 20 plus years ago

A few beers and a chat and I walked off thinking “Gazza’s a top bloke”

I decided to be an owner builder. When almost at the end of the site preparation my shoulder collapsed I had minimal movement and severe pain. I needed a shoulder replacement.

My only option was to find a builder that was happy to work with me. At that point Gary and his team were deeply involved in a 5-townhouse development.

With the Landsberry team out of reach I looked further and after many discussions found another builder that said he could complete the works. It only took a week for disappointment to appear in my mind. The project manager was rarely on site and the workmanship was poor and progress very slow. Six weeks later I was not sleeping and wondering what the next mistake would be and how much I would have to pay to fix. The last straw was the realization the new 30K slab had more than a 70 mm variation across it and no 50 mm drop on the outdoor area for drainage. A 10 K repair. I decided to sack the builder, as no progress was better than what had been happening for the past 6 weeks.

My mate Steve, who originally introduced me to Gaz said he was going to talk to Gaz about my predicament. The next day Gary rang and spent many hours on site after he had worked all day at the townhouses. He was sickened by the circumstances and had boys on site a week later, He came every Saturday and worked on the tools all day with a young apprentice for approximately 2 months. He had a window where the gyprockers were in the townhouses and Gaz and the team needed to be out of the way. About 2 weeks later the Landsberry team had my houses ready for a roof. Rooves attached we returned to the Saturday routine and today the photos say it all.

Gary consistently monitors the quality of materials and the construction techniques. He stands by his product and his building practices and is proud of the end result. He has a high attention to detail. There are no shortcuts, every aspect of the build is to or above code and he pre thinks engineer and certifier inspections to ensure work does not need to be changed or has already been covered up and cannot be inspected. His site awareness, confidence and building knowledge allows him to solve any and all problems in a very patient and methodical manner. He does not get flustered he just finds solutions to move towards a quality-completed project. His extensive experience in forward planning, project scheduling and material management ensured excess materials were not purchased and waste was controlled. He keeps all costs transparent and on a pay when satisfied the aspect is completed. Gary is on site all day every day constantly teaching best practice, leading, yet delegating responsibility and accountability to his staff to ensure their growth and development. Safety is always reviewed and immediately addressed to ensure the safety of all on site.

Gary’s greatest attribute is in communication; he constantly listens and advises best practice to me client and his staff. All his recommendations made my house a better place to live in.

I was fortunate to be on site and witness the build of my new dwelling, one of which I am very proud. People talk, Gary does not advertise, his reputation has kept months or years of work on the to do list for 40 years

In 1999, I sought out many builders to look at rebuilding my home at 15 Carter Crescent Gymea Bay.

The same name – Garry Landsberry kept being recommended to me and after just one meeting, my wife and I signed a contract for Garry to undertake a knock down and rebuild. 

It was an amazing part of our life and nine months later presented a family home to behold. 

It has withstood the test of time and can still remember that the gyprockers praised how square every room was.

Garry Landsberry is not only a great builder but also an amazing man and how delighted we were to move back into our home on the opening of the Sydney Olympics, bang on time.

When considering renovating an old bungalow we typically worried about timing, budget and the complicated nature of our build.

Renovations are inherently stressful and having Gary and his energetic team do this build for us meant he took all the stress out of it for us but kept us well informed and a part of the whole process as we moved forward.

I first meet Gary in 2011. At the time I was looking for a builder to help me undertake the construction of a Dual Occupancy development in Miranda and Gary was recommended by my architect who had worked with him in the past. I was looking for a builder who would not only be hands on and able to work closely with me throughout the build but also one that had the knowledge and experience necessary to achieve the desired outcome.

Gary proved to be the perfect choice, not only was he an exceptional builder but very easy to work with and provided valuable advice and design solutions throughout the build that saved me both time and money.
